I.M.C.A. Old Timers was formed to promote and preserve I.M.C.A. (International Motor Contest Association) history, including the preservation and excellent restoration of former I.M.C.A. race cars; to maintain records and documents of I.M.C.A. history; recognition of former drivers, owners, mechanics and others involved in I.M.C.A. history; and provide an opportunity for the social and technical interchange of members interested in auto racing history.
ANOTHER MILWAUKEE MILE IS IN THE BOOKS! BY JIM HEILAND
IT WAS A GREAT WEEKEND FOR RACING AT THE MILWAUKEE MILE JUNE 20, WAS THE CRAFTMANS TRUCKS AND JUNE 21, THE NATIONWIDE CARS. OH YES, CAN'T FORGET THAT ON FRIDAY THE GRAND NATION VINTAGE CAR RACED. THIS WAS MY THIRD YEAR AT THE MILE, AND IT WAS AS EXCITING AS THE FIRST YEAR. THERE WERE A TOTAL OF 22 VINTAGE CAR FROM THE MIDWEST. BERNNEN LEWIS FROM THE GRAND NATIONAL VINTAGE CLUB,DID A GREAT JOB OF PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER. WE HAD AN HOUR OF PRACTICE, AND A 25 LAP FEATURE. I STARTED THE RACE, FINISHED AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR ON THE TRAILER. A SUCCESS! THERE WERE ONLY 3 OF US FROM MINNESOTA, RICK HEBER, BOB HEINE AND JIM HEILAND. CHRIS LOBERG FROM MENOMONIE, MARK MAY FROM MARSHFIELD WI, DARYL BESSIENER FROM GOLDEN SANDS RACEWAY, WISC. RAPIDS WERE SOME OF THE PEOPLE THERE. IT WAS GOOD TO SEE THE GRAND NATIONAL VINTAGE GUYS TOO. WE WERE ABLE TO CAMP ON THE INFIELD, THURSDAY NIGHT FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY, HAD TO LEAVE SATURDAY NIGHT. SATURDAY MORNING, IT WAS A BUFFETT. LOBERG GRILLED PANCAKES, HEINE ON THE SAUSAGES, CHRIS WELSH, SCRAMBLED EGGS, HEILAND, BACON. MY TRAILERS WAS THE BUFFETT LINE. MIGHTY GOOD EATEN. MANY YEARS AGO I MET ROGER CASSILL CEDAR RAPIDS IA, HE IS LANDON CASSILL'S DAD. I HAD A CHANCE TO TALK WITH HIM FOR QUITE AWHILE. LANDON IS DRIVING A NATIONWIDE CAR FOR HENDRICKS MOTORSPORTS. THAT IS SOME STORY. LANDON DID A GREAT JOB AND IS VERY GOOD DRIVER. ALL IN ALL IT WAS A VERY FUN WEEKEND. LOOKING FOWARD TO NEXT YEAR
