Hello

I don't know if this is the right place to be or even ask but I'm trying all that I can. My father in law used to race in Minnesota and Wisconsin from the later 60's to about 1980. His name was Harold "Skip" Spilttstoesser. He's getting older in age and health isn't the best anymore.  So I'm trying to find any pictures, videos, or articles about him.  Also he has a full wall of 1st and 2nd place trophies from Stillwater Speedway, Cedar Lake Speedway, and North Starr. I know he started in some 57 Chevys’ one black one silver either numbers 2 or 7.  Also his car was known as the "Black Duce".   Is there any dirt track hall of fame or museum that would take everything?  I just don't want him to be forgotten and I like people to appreciate the past of racing. Any information would be great.

Thank you,

Todd Viellieux    todder53@hotmail.com

Steve Moen in Rochester has asked for help a friend identify a car. It has a V60 Flathead under the hood. It says St. Peter, MN on one side of the hood?  If you think you recognize this car or have any contacts in the St. Peter area give Steve a hand.  Steve’s number is 507-251-1811

Hello, I am working with a group of people who are researching and compiling a comprehensive book on the history of racing activity in Central Texas.  There were hundreds of tracks in and around the cities of Waco, Temple/Belton, Austin, and San Antonio that we would like to gather more information about - the races, the drivers, etc.

Of particular interest is the work of IMCA promoter Joe Ziobro from 1926 to 1930, his falling out with the IMCA in that year, and his work afterwards as an 'outlaw' promoter in Texas.

Our planned book encompasses all types of racing and we would welcome any contacts/photos/stories you and your membership may have, specific to activity in Central Texas.

Thank you,

Hans Falk

Dear All,

I am carrying out a sympathetic restoration of my 1930s Sprint car shown below. I am searching for any historic information or sources for same.  I bought the car in Minnesota and was told it had racing history in MN and surrounding states.  Some script remains on the cowl including LeGor? With miller just below that in a different font.  Any advice or help would be very much appreciated as I am eager to maintain the state an history of the car.  Contact: Mark Fleming mfleming@cluid.ie

Dave,

I pulled your information off the IMCA oldtimers  site.

My name is Eric Hendrickson.  I am restoring the #14 modified that was driven by Jim Edgington, and his teammates Ron Barton (engine builder) and Roger Hendrickson (chassis fab and setup).  This was a dirt car that ran in 1969 and 1970 in Fairmont and Jackson and surrounding tracks (Algona, Spencer, etc)

This car is unique in the fact that won the 1969 and 1970 Minnesota State Fair modified race on pavement.  I am trying locate or contact anybody that may have additional photos or footage from those actual events.  Let me know if you would have any contacts, and I heard someone may have the State Fair Archives?

The car has the original chassis, most parts are painted and reassembly has started.  (was hoping to have it done to show at Fairmont).  Setting it up to be  runner, so may run it someday.

As a side note in the process of trying to locate a lot of parts, I just picked up 40-50 vintage tires and wheels from 60’s – 80’s.  All six pin, some steel, aluminum welds, centerlines, and some Halibrands (pretty rough though).  I have these advertised on Facebook but would like to spread the word if anyone else local is needing anything.

Thanks

Eric Hendrickson

Hello, I was looking around the internet and found the IMCA old timers page. I was wondering if anyone would know where my granpa Red Lempelius offy wound up?
I found this video on youtube of a car dealership in Michigan selling the car for $70,000. That was around 2013. I emailed the dealership also. In the video there is an IMCA Old Timers sticker and antique auto racing association registered  sticker on the car.

Any information would be awesome thank you for the time!

TOM STETTNER

POSSIBLY SAVES 4 LIVES
Tom and Ilene Stettner were camping over night at the
Mississippi Thuinder Race Track in
Fountian City WI.  Saturday morning Tom
notice a young man opening the door of his camper
and fell out face first on the ground.  At first he thought it was to much party on Friday night.  Then he noticed the man didn't move. he rushed over tried to wake him up.  He pounded on the camper door and finally some one opened it, they look just as bad.  Tom ran to locate a track official and they call medical help.  As it turned out the furnace was bad in the camper and a few more minutes, we would be talking about four dead people.  You guys are Heros of the day.  Way to go Tom and Ilene!

GOLDEN SPIKE SPEEDWAY ST CLOUD MN
SUNDAY AUGUST 30
STEVE JENSEN SWEEPS STOCK CARS
Steve Jensen from Hope MN won the heat race and the feature
Sunday night at Golden Spike.  In the heat race Jensen jumped out to an early
lead with his 61 Chev Impala, and held it the entire race. For the feature it was a
different story.  Heiland made some major changes to his 70 Chev Nova and
the battle was on.  Again Jensen jumped to an early lead but Heiland and
Francis Fox  51 Ford were right there.  A dog fight developed , first it was Jensen,
then Heiland leading, then Jensen.  Heiland was pinned down low giving
the advantage to Jensen on the high side.  At the finish line it was
Jensen by a hood ornement.
Congrats to Steve Jensen on his 2 victories.
There were 4 Stock Cars 3 Sprint Cars 1 Midget and 1 lady driven Modified
Stock Cars were Jensen, Heiland, Francis Fox and Allen Bjorkland.
Sprint Cars were, Dave Hoska & crew man Paul Rempfer, Rick & Dave Seidenkranz.
Art Abrahams was having trouble with his Midget, but worked like a made man and
got it running for the feature.  Paula, yes Paula Reineke drove her #41 Modified with the sprints
and was doing good in the heat til she ran out of gas.  You can bet that Skip had
plenty of gas in it for the feature.
A big THANKS to the crew at Golden Spike and to Woody Woodbury and Calvin Hobbs
for putting the event together.  Every one really enjoyed the evening.
