Chris Loberg Sprints to
Grand National Vintage
Series Victory

Chris Loberg of Menominie, Wisconsin, won the twelve
lap feature for the Grand National Vintage Racing Series.

Twelve cars took the green flag with the Dodge Charger
of Mark Freund taking the early lead. Freund's lead would
be short-lived as Jamie Schmidt would pass him coming
down the backstretch on the second lap.

Schmidt would lead until lap 5 when Bob Heine would
move to the inside going into turn three and clear
Schmidt for the lead coming out of turn four. Mark May
would then move into second with his Marty Robbins
machine.

Heine would continue his lead for the next several laps
with Loberg showing a lot of speed and closing the
gap quickly.

On lap 11, Loberg would power his way past Heine
coming out of turn two and never look back as he
would easily take home the checkered flag. Heine
would finish second followed by May, Jim Heiland,
and Tim Paisley.

Grand National Vintage heat races
were won by Schmidt and Heine.

Racing Weekend at
Madison Internation Speedway
and Wisconsin Dells
By Jim Heiland

July 25 & 26 I had the oppertunity to Race at Madison's 1/2 mile
high banked paved track.  We are talking HIGH banked and fast.
We were invited by Brennen Lewis, Pres of the Grand Nation Vintage
Stock Car group from Milwaukee.  Friday night was an
ASA Late Model 100 Lap Race.  We were also part of the
show with 2 heats and a feature.  We had a total of 12 cars
which made a nice field.  It was a fun night and we were
treated great.  From the feed back I got the fans loved
the Old Race Cars.  Above is the story from MIS.
www.madisoninternationalspeedway.com

  S
aturday night we were part of the show at Wisconsin Dells Raceway.
Another great facitity.  We had lots of practice time and a 20 Lap Feature.
Here were 14 Vintage Racers, and it was a lot of fun..Infact that was the
most fun most of us had in a long time.  Joining us Saturday were
Darrel Bessner, Wisc Rapids and Mike Wall and Bobby Lee, IMCA Old Timer
Members from Holman WI.
Feature winner was Darrel Bessener followed by Jim Heiland,
Roger Meyer, Mark May, Tom Stettner, Chris Loberg, Brennen Lewis,
Jamie Schmidt, and after that I'm not sure of the finishing order.
What a fun weekend, and I'm looking foward to the next time.
Thanks to Brennen Lewis for his hard work and the two tracks for having us.
