IMCA Old Timers Banquet January 21, 2012
by Jim Heiland
The 2012 banquet is in the book, and what a night it was.  A special thanks goes out to Big Don Belkengren for taking on the challenge and putting the banquet night together.
During the social hour there was a lot of bench racing going on.  It is yet to be determined who was the fastest of the evening.  It was good to see so many racers and friend.
The Savage American Legion put on a great meal.  Linda and her crew did a nice job setting up the dining room.  It looked great.  There were close to sixty people in attendance.  Looked to me that everyone got enough to eat.
Mike Hed got the long distance award, coming from Manahga, MN, that’s way up north.
A lot of us beat the bushes and got a bunch of door prizes.  Over half the people went home with some goodies. We would like to thank,
Arlington NAPA, Arlington Raceway, Bloomington NAPA, Brothers Jorgenson Racing, Burnsville Motors, CarTime Inc., Cracker Barrel Restaurant Lakeville,  Crystal Lake Auto, Elko Speedway, Justice Brothers Glenn Gilland, Lehman’s Automotive, Lou Fegers Racing, O’Riley Auto Parts, Perkins Restaurant Lakeville, Raceway Park, and State Farm Insurance.
Big Don found this Bluegrass Band for the evening entertainment.  WOW did he do good. The group is The Platte Valley Boys.  Tony Adreason (one of the original Trashmen, Surfin Bird fame), Scott Stebbins, Peter Brooks, Ron Colby, excellent musicians. The frosting on the cake was a young fiddle player named Catie Jo Pidel, she is a joy to watch.  If Charlie Daniels heard her play, he would go back to take more lessons.
I think everyone had a good time. Thanks to everyone who made the night possible.
